PRO-43 Low Band Modification 30-88 Mhz

I have a used PRO-43 that had the cellular modification done, but not the
low band modification to include the extra 50-88 Mhz coverage. Am I missing
something? Is it worth making the modification? I hear there is some
interesting comms in the 72-76 Mhz range.....

Actually, you can enable the 54-88Mhz portion just by
moving the diode that you remove to enable cellular.
This gives you complete 30-88Mhz coverage, but sensitivity
rolls off dramatically above 60MHz, since the front end
components are optimized for 30-54MHz performance.
My pro43's do get some paging stuff around 75MHz
without changing any RF parts.

There are about 9 surface mount caps and inductors you
need to change to optimize the unit for 'mid-band' reception.
I wouldn't consider the mod extensive, but I do board-level
surface mount repair for a living, so I have access to all the
correct equipment.

The mod is extensive, involving changing rf coils etc.
