looking for IC-R7000 owners for differents questions

Hi group.

I've recently baught a second hand IC-R7000. It seems it's a good receiver
but I've some questions someone may answer :

- I'm comparing the R7000 signal strengh with my FT-736 transceiver and I
can notice that a signal at 9+20 on the FT736 is receiver at 5 or 6 with my
R7000. However, the weak signal received 0 on my FT-736 is received 0 with
the R7000. Could it be a sensitivity issue (DC-DC power supply) or just a
S-meter calibration matter ?

- I'm looking for CAT software for R7000 allowing to scan and automatically
save sound files when there is a busy channel ?

- I've noticed a lot of birdies especially above 1Ghz. Is it a know issue
for this receiver ?

- Finally I would be very interrested by your experience on receiving
satellites : Inmarsat, Meteosat, Goes, .... I'd like to build antennas and
preamplifiers. Please let me know if you know good devices to build and
improve performances...

Make sure the attenuator is off, and the preamp is on. (as I recall)

Thanks for answer Bill,

The attenuator is correctly off, but I've no preamplifier in the R7000.

Probably an S-meter cal thing. When I got the service manual for my R7000
I recalled my S-meter, and noticed it was far off when I started.

I do not know of anything that does this, but then I have not looked much.

I have never noticed this with my R-7000.

I have a PDF version of the R7000 service manual. It is 22 Mb, so
mailing is impractical. If you send me an e-mail, I provide you with a
download link.
