Stealth Handheld Scanner Antenna?

About 10 years ago, a kind soul sent me plans for
a stealth handheld antenna.

It consists of:

- 1 BNC plug to fit the scanner
- 1 3.5mm phono plug to fit the scanner
- 1 3.5mm phono jack for headphones
- 1 variable capacitor

The entire unit fits into the bottom half of
a 35mm film cannister and is ruggedized by
potting the works in hot melt glue.

The capacitor is tweaked to provide best gain.

The idea is to plug this unit into the scanner
RF and headphone connectors, and plug a walkman-style
headset into the unit.

The antenna is the headphone cord which is capacitatively
coupled to the scanner antenna input.

I built one and it works great!
That was 10 years ago, and I have lost the plans.

Can anyone point me to them?

I have a friend who wants to build one.

Just buy a CH-32 Miracle Baby antenna, by Comet.

Sounds like a good idea...probably works better than those short stubby
antennas, especially when you consider that the receiver is likely to be
kept in your pocket or near your body. The headphone wire would provide
more capture area for the signals, although it is likely to have limitations
on which bands it receives well.
