Yes, my local Uniden distributor told me that the 92 was junk, same

Still are, and there is plenty of stock in all my local Radio Shack stores.

What do you expect from a 5" antenna for performance? I hooked it up to my discone and it holds its own against my BC 895. With that being said it seems to work fairly well on state police and LEA freqs. which is all I care about. It'll stay in my van, and if it gets stolen, for 60$ I wont cry too hard.
