I was wondering if there is any type of simple receiver or scanner I can

receive and demodulate FM signals. WFM or NFM.

If I'm not mistaken, that is the aero band, and most traffic in there is
AM.

Nevertheless, many scanners let you select the desired modulation (AM,
FM, NFM, etc.) for any particular frequency. (Some of the less expensive
ones do not let you select, but instead are hardwired for a certain type
of modulation within each band.)

So, the answer would be "yes". Have a look at the current lineup of
scanners, and pick one that lets you set the modulation.
