Mag mount + rain = wet seats

I'll do the Jeopardy thing:

A: Take the antennas off the roof during a rain storm.
Q: How do you prevent water from entering through the weather stripping with
a mag mount antenna during a rain storm?

So let's say I'm looking for another alternative. I am using mag mounts
because I don't want to permanently modify the car, but I would like them to
be permanent, in that I don't want to remove them until I sell the car.
Right now I am bringing two coax feeds in through a rear door, but it leaks.
I am going to try the hatch door and sunroof, but failing that, is there
anything I can do to keep the water out?

Thanks

Put a drip loop outside. Make a small loop like a U before the cable
enters the auto. That being the lowest spot, water will drip off
there.

Do the same thing outside a building when bringing cables in, and
drill into the building at an upwards angle from outside in, as water
doesn't like to run uphill.

There are other non permanent solutions than the mag mount - one of my
antennas (of 5 x two way type on my car) is on what is colloquially called
the "Z mount". It is a steel bracket that is bent into a "Z" shape and is
secured to the car using on of the bolts under the bonnet (along the side).
I have used several different antennas off this type of mount (including a 9
foot 1/4 wave stainless) without a problem - the cable from the mount
(pretty much whatever type of mount you want) is then run into the car
through the firewall. I wouldn't really reccomend using a heavy duty HF
multiband antenna on this type of mount, but it will suffice for pretty much
any scanner type antenna that you may want to run.
