Realistic (radioshack/tandy) 2006 Question
 

I am looking to get a decent and quite cheap radio and thought that this
might be a good choice. What do you think?

I think they are cheaper than they used to be but still not what I call
cheap. You can buy a new scanner (even a trunk tracker) for the price of a
used 2006 that's worth dragging home. RM~

Would a new scanner have the capabilities of the 2006? (a cheaper one
obviously)

And what is a trunk tracker?

When you decide you want a scanner, you then have to know what you wish to
listen to. Many Police and fire departments have gone to a "trunked" system.
Many places on the net will explain this. If that is what the community you
wish to listen to uses you would want a scanner that had the ability to
follow these calls.
