Discriminator outputs

Hello All:

I'm having a bit of a dilemma WRT a recent discriminator mod to my
PRO-2006. I've dona a lot of research and looked at it a lot.
So i install a .22uF capacitor to test point 2 and feed that to the
center conductor of a shielded cable to an earphone jack i install
in the rear of the chassis.
So i plug my handy audio cable into the new output and hear absolutely
squat. I mean nothing. As far as i know, yes the output is very
quiet, but even on active channels, there is nothing coming through.
And as an added "feature", the radio now will not scan programmed
channels, each channel has to be gone through one-at-a-friggin-time.
as well, the only way i can get the radio to scann through programmed
channels, is to reset each and every programmed freq into WFM.It's the
only way i can scann through the banks and the squelch will work.

Does ANYONE out there in scanner-land have any thoughts or
reccomendations on this?? I'm really perplexed by this one..........

A capacitor will not isolate the discriminator output as you found out. If
you unplug the audio cable does the radio then function normally? What does
this audio cable connect the radio to?

If i unplug the audio cable from the radio, the radio remaing acting the
same. I can't explain it at all. The audio cable connects to my PC on
which i run apps like CoolEdit Pro etc...

Mike

Then you have a shorted cable or an incorrectly wired jack. Use an Ohmmeter
to check.

The capacitor is useless but shouldn't cause the problems you are having.
