correct battery holders? The black one is intended for Alkaline batteries.
If you're putting your re-chargeables in there, they won't recharge. You
need to use the yellow battery holder for re-chargeables. Also make sure
you're inserting the battery holder into the radio properly. It has metal
contacts that need to mate with the ones in the radio.

After listening to the radio for several months using the AC power supply

decided to take the scanner mobile and when the AC supply was disconnected
the scanner went dead. Checked the rechargable batteries and all was good
but no sound. Put in the other battery pack with the regular batteries and
still no joy. Has anyone else out there come across this same type of
problem. I suspect that there is a fuse for the batteries inside the radio
but don't want to open it up just yet as there may still be warrenty

FWIW, if it's like the PRO-95, the battery cover won't seat if
the holder isn't correctly oriented.
