new scanner reccommendation
 

I am thinking of getting a new handheld scanner.
I am NOT interested in a trunktracker.
I only want to scan 30-470 MHz, analog, FM and AM mode for aircraft.

Any suggestions?

Try the ICOM R-20. Top of the line if you do not need digital or trunking.

If you want to buy a "new" handheld scanner, and you want to monitor
"military" aircraft, then you're best choice would be Radio Shack's new
PRO-97, Cat #20-527, at $219.99. It's a Triple Trunk Tracker, but you can
just ignore that feature.

Or, if you just want to monitor commercial aircraft, then the Radio Shack
PRO-82, Cat #20-315 will meet your needs, at $99.99.

If you're not in a hurry, Radio Shack occasionally prices the PRO-97 at
$199.99, and the PRO-82 at $79.99. You might want to wait, and watch their
web site for a sale.
