Teen in trouble with real police Charged with impersonating Boston officer By Suzanne Smalley, Globe Staff | September 3, 2005 A West Roxbury High School freshman who admits he is obsessed with police procedures says he called in false reports to Boston Police in a series of radio transmissions and now faces charges of impersonating an officer, authorities said. The 14-year-old, who the Globe is not identifying because he is a juvenile, was also charged with disturbing the peace and was arraigned yesterday in West Roxbury District Court. He was released to the custody of his family and is due back in court on Oct. 28. In an interview yesterday, the teen said he is a Boston Police Department enthusiast who keeps a green binder labeled ''BPD Notes" in his bedroom for logging calls he hears over his police scanner. He said he began calling in phony traffic stops and radio checks on Wednesday. He made the calls with a Motorola handheld radio he bought on eBay.
