Thinking about moving up from Radio Shack to either the AOR 8200, Alinco
DJ-X2000 or the Icom R-20. Would appreciate feedback on which to get,
thanks.

AOR units have fantastic receiver specs. I have numerous AOR receivers
and they outperform any of my RS, Alinco or Uniden scanners. (However
they do not have a model with built in APCO25 nor trunk tracking. They
make high end receivers with scanning features, not scanners with
compromised receivers.) They are also the number 1 choice of government
and intelligence agencies. That ought to speak well for their gear.
If you need APCO25 or trunk tracking, stick with Uniden or RS, but if
you want a high end receiver, AOR is a winner.

My .02,

Bob

If you are interested in UHF mil-air listening stay away from the R20.

Well I bought the Alinco DJ-X2000 but I hope I will like it as soon as I can
understand how to use it & program it. I am used to Radio Shack scanners
which are simple to use & program. I still have not been able to program the
Alinco yet, manual not much help.
