PCR Remote - version 0.5.22 Beta is Now Available for downloading from
the homepage:

The Server and Remote software allows you to control your Icom PCR-100,
PCR-1000 and PCR-1500 over the internet.
Using Audio Brodcast software such as SHOUTcast, Pirate Radio Broadcaster
or Windows Media Encoder will enable you to hear your radio from a remote
location over the internet...

May 22,2006 - Added: Reverse DNS to PCR Remote.
Can now enter server name like "mysite.mydns.com".
May 23,2006 - Fixed: Direct Entry of Frequency after using any knobs or
menus.
May 23,2006 - Fixed: Maximum Frequency for PCR-1500.
May 23,2006 - Added: Minmimal Support for PCR-2500.
May 23,2006 - Fixed: Entry of Frequency using Keypad could have caused a
crash.

problem is, I'm an idiot when it comes to setting up remote audio
streaming. Is there any simplified guide you could point out that would
get me started -- preferably something that doesn't involve going through
a 're-distribution' server, but just direct pc to pc? Thanks!

To set up a SHOUTcast server you need to download and install 3 files.
1) Winamp music (Basic) player Bundle:
http://www.winamp.com/player/free.php
2) Download the SHOUTcast DSP Plug-In for Winamp 5.x.
http://www.shoutcast.com/download/broadcast.phtml
3) Shoutcast server.
http://www.shoutcast.com/download/serve.phtml

The shoutcast server page tells more about installing and configuring.
It's really easy to set-up and configure...

am I misunderstanding it?

I'd really like to setup just direct pc-pc access [I'm not sure I'd even
ever use it outside my home network -- just pc to pc].
