Hand-Held "Equiv." To 996 ?

Is there an "equivalent" hand-held unit to the 996 ?

If so, what might be, please, the major differences (other than gps
which I have no use for) ?

When did it come out ?
If not, do you think any is contemplated by Uniden in the near future ?

The 396 is the closest at the moment. Uniden doesn't make base
equivalents of portables or portable equivalents of base/mobile units,
so I doubt we'll be seeing a "996 portable" for a while.
