The RF notch filter Dallas Lankford uses
I had wondered how DL managed to do the tests I have mentioned.
I followed some not, to me, obvious links and found this lihnk: http://members.cox.net/dallaslankford/High_Performance_RF_Notch_Filter.pdf I hope to assemble one and do some testing of my equipment. Terry |

Drake used an RF notch filter in the R7/A and if I recall also in some if not all of their earlier amateur receivers. Unfortunately they did not incorporate it into the R8 series of receivers. In my opinion, RF notching is the preferred way to go, as it helps to eliminate the offending signal from affecting the AGC adversely. dxAce Michigan USA DL's notch filter is designed to simulate fading. I will admit that I hadn't even considered trying to add one to my setup. I was only thinking of trying to do some tests to see how well my various detectors would cope with fading. Thanks for widening my outlook! Terry |
