Where is the reset button on a Radio Shack DX-392?

I managed to locked my DX392 and removed the batteries and was trying
to take the back off, but I couldn't get the one of the screws out.
After I gave up I put the batteries back in and now I can't get it to
turn on Where is the reset button? can I reset it without taking the
back off?

pin hole inside the battery compartment. Press gently with a paper
clip and release.

I didn't find the reset button but I used a smaller screwdriver and got
the back off and that took care of it.

Now that I know how to get the back off do you know how to do the
chaffing mod. (whatever it is called, so that the audio isn't muted when
tuning.)

This is for the 390, don't know if it's the same as the 392 but if you're
smart enough you can tell if it is different:

I did a mod on my DX-390. It will disable the squelch used to keep the
user from hearing the phase lock circuit as he/she changes. It also keeps
a person from being able to "scan the band" and hear all he/she scans.
Anyway, remove the cover and circuit board. If the user doesn't have the
external power supply, they will need to remove the unit's batteries an
hour before they do the mod. If they don't, they will believe they have
zapped the radio. The radio's memory needs to be fully discharged. After
they have done this, remove C167. It's a 1 microfarad capacitor near the
volumn control. My mod's been in effect for two months without any "odd"
influences to the radio.

Note:
Place a jumper wire in place of C167

Isn't there just a pin I can disconnect from one of the ribbon cables?

It's hard to tell from the trace side where the capacitor is.

I was hoping for a less peramant mod incase I don't like the results.
