Looking for SW receiver

Hello,
I currently own a Grundig Satellit 1400 sl but it is rather (more than
20 years) old and I hear too many crackles when I turn the nob to switch
to others frequency bands. Furthermore, it becomes very difficult to
stay tuned to exactly the same frequency, I always must adjust it by
turning the main nob. It's really a pain to listen to sw. So I wish to
buy a brand new one with the same performance in order to listen to
international stations. One of the purpose is for DXing, hearing weak
radio stations from all over the world. And cheap :) No more than 150 euros.
I am thinking to the Grundig yacht boy 80 wr 5408 or Sangean ats 505
since it seems to be the same receiver. A pocket sw radio is ok for me.
Its feature should be a range from 1600-30000 khz without
discontinuity, "no holes" if you prefer. I saw at this web site
(http://www.grundig.com/index.php?id=301&pid=291) an interesting one.
When searching the web, a few manufacturers state their radio is a full
range 1600-3000 khz but when looking at a vendor in France (I live in
this country), this is unfortunately no longer true since some
frequencies are missing, I wonder why.
If anyone has usefull links or informations for buying one in France he
is the welcome.

(English version below)

Bonjour Jacques,

http://www.dxradio.co.uk/sangean/ats909.php
http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/797
http://www.sardif.com/store/product_...roducts_id=101

2) Sony 7600GR (perso j'ai un vieux SW-100, la synchro aide pas mal)
http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/1534
http://www.leguide.com/sb/leguide/re.../1/1061200.htm

http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/5071
http://www.radiolabs.com/products/ra...kaito-1103.php

http://www.radiointel.com/review-etone5.htm

http://www.radiointel.com/portwars.htm

Personnellement j'ai quelques accessoires en plus :
- antenne SW Sony AL-LP1 (super antenne !)

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=180038382767

(http://www.sardif.com/store/index.php?cPath=8_55_134)

accessible.

Bonne recherche,

Charly

------- English version ----------------

My advice will like Siwtcher's but obviously it will depends on your
budget :

1) ATS 909 (I got one, super radio !)
http://www.dxradio.co.uk/sangean/ats909.php
http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/797
http://www.sardif.com/store/product_...roducts_id=101

2) Sony 7600GR (I have a SW100 and can tell the sync detect can help)
http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/1534
http://www.leguide.com/sb/leguide/re.../1/1061200.htm

3) Degen/Kaito 1103 (I would advice the Kaito version since it might
have been better controled for exportation). Cheaper.
http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/5071
http://www.radiolabs.com/products/ra...kaito-1103.php

4)Eton E5 (a relooked 1103 with a better interface)
http://www.radiointel.com/review-etone5.htm
More expensive thant the De1103.

I do recommand you the www.radiointel.com web site and in particular
this web page :
http://www.radiointel.com/portwars.htm

I own some more accesories :
- SW Sony AL-LP1 anteann (super antenna !)
- SW Kaito KA31 antenna (= Degen DE31, good performer but difficult to
adjust)
- MW Degen TG33 antenna (not that good, but helps)
- reel anteenas of 5 and 7 m bundled with Sangean and Sony radios, but I
rarely use them since I have the active antennas
- home made external 10m long-wire antenna with a 9:1 "balun" : performs
like the active antenna, with more noise but less baterries.

Internet sites are more convenients to buy these radios, mainly for
Degen/Kaito/Eton :
- Degen : Chinese eBay reseller (ooops ! I can't find the 1103 anymore
?????)
- Kaito : I used www.radios4you.com but you need a contact located in
the USA to bring the radio in Europe
- Eton : Difficult to find in Europe. English reseller here :
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=180038382767

The Sony 7600GR is available in FNAC and DARTY shops (expensive !!!).

For the Sangean : if you live in North of Paris or can go there, a good
shop is Sarcelles Diffusion (located in front of the railway station),
that is also selling on line
(http://www.sardif.com/store/index.php?cPath=8_55_134)

French shops are adviced if you wish to have a local waranty.

You can get a cheaper one from the SarDif French shop here (119 €) :
http://www.sardif.com/store/product_...products_id=99

If you can add 30 € to your budget, then I would advice the 909 for 189
€ in the same shop (see link in the previous post).

I am thinking to the Grundig yacht boy 80 wr 5408 or Sangean ats 505

Its feature should be a range from 1600-30000 khz without
discontinuity, "no holes" if you prefer. I saw at this web site

I am reading the specifications in pdf of each of them and hesitate.
If don't know if there is more sensitivity for the 909 model. There are
no advanced technical specifications.Sardif does not provide the ant-60
nor the adapter.

Has anyone already bought anything for Germany, THIECOM for instance ?
In fact, it is not so easy to find a reliable reseller.

Really ?????? I thought it was ALWAYS included in the box. Perhaps this
is why it is not explicitely written ? Did you call them or email them ?
(I got a reply within a few days after an email).

I see on the 909 Sardif web page :

"Alimentation piles et secteur."
(Battery and AC powered)

"Livré avec antenne ondes courtes et housse de protection."
(Delivered with short-wave antenna and carrying pouch)

So I suspect it is included... I just used the "Contact Us" web page of
their site to ask the question. We will see...

Not me.... Got mine from Darty five years ago, and the Sony was bought
