Here we go again...

I have the first walkman ever made (a Sony) in good condition made in 1979
or 1980. Anybody wanna give me $500 for it? My gosh... They quit making
something and now everybody wants it. There are better radios for almost
half as much money...

Frys sells the Eton E1 for $479. I'd much rather have that and $300.

P.S. I also have a Celeron 300 computer with a 4x cd recorder for sale. They
don't make those anymore. Who wants to start the bidding at $500?

;)

know that. BTW, i have a new, in the box, never opened SW77
here. had a guy offer me a Kiwa moded R75 swap for it. we
didn't come to an agreement on that. maybe i'll hold off for
a Drake R8B. i could use a back-up, if it's in good shape.;-}.
LOL.

I personally would never spend more than a couple of hundred bucks on a
portable receiver. To each his own, I guess.

Maybe you'd be more interested in a RF-8000 that's beat to death and doesn't
work. Starting bid: $2,295.00....
SHEESH........................

I think the real question is whether the bidder is a radio collector or
a radio listener. Collectors as we all know will pay dearly for a mint
radio and if the box and instructions are included the sky can be the
limit. The needs of a radio listener are usually far more modest.
It's clear that at least three people think the radio is worth that
much: The final bidder, next highest bidder and the seller.

Exactly. This is especially true if the radio in question fills the
gap to complete a collection.
A rabid collector with some money burning his pockets would readily
drop the cash.
You only live once and money (for the most part) is a renewable
resource :-)
