LED Flashlight Review

Het Brenda, about two something years ago,I read an article at
www.gizmodo.com or maybe it was at www.boingboing.com about a
whole Radar system/thingy that has been down sized) etched on to a
silicon wafer chip about the size of a U.S.quarter coin.I reckon some
farads nowdays, you would need a microscope to even find them.

Just like me,especially in cold weather,,, sometimes I need a
''microscope''.

Those loud car radio idiots,,, Jackson has a lot of them too. They drive
around and shake the windows with their loud bass car radio
thingys.Jackson has an ordnance/law agains't that,but I doubt if the
Jackson city cops actually enforce that ordnance/law.There is also a law
agains't heavily tinted car windows in this Jackson city of
confusion.Just three days ago I saw a car with heavily tinted
windows. The cops are too busy fighting crime to worry too much about
loud car radios and tinted car windows.

I find those sizes very hard to believe. Even a one farad capacitor
is pretty large and in some cases, larger than an average flashlight.

Depends upon the working voltage. I had seen 1 farad caps 20 years ago
that were not much larger than a couple of small mercury cells. I'm
sure they've gotten them even smaller by now.

True. I forgot about the voltage aspect, as I was thinking about the
sizes used by the auto sound nuts in their vehicles. A one Farad size in
those applications is about the size of a one litre (about a US Quart)
container. I can't imagine a hand shaken flashlight would make enough of
a voltage to allow a size reduction of any great magnitude..

I'm probably wrong, so please post any more information you may have
access to.

As for those car stereo lunatics, I think they will all be deaf after a
few years.

I agree. Unfortunately those who run their home entertainment, car
stereo and Ipod systems at very high levels will find themselves
cranking the volume gradually higher as hearing sensitivity declines.
Those individuals should be encouraged to simulate damaged hearing and
listening through hearing aids before the permanent damage occurs. A
few of them might just turn the volume down.

I can hear their bloody bass five cars away. How can the use
of headphones by a car driver be illegal when that megawatt idiocy is
allowed to continue?

Yes, I agree. But the desire to draw attention to ones self by making
the loudest possible noise isn't limited to car stereo systems.
Consider the exhaust noise from some brands of motor cycles and several
cars.

About four months ago,I saw some of those shake em up magnet flashlights

So True! Nothing but more bulk-imported Chinese made crap
plus they wanted $19.95 for the silly penile-shaped thingie.
(ever notice that you have to 'shake it' like you're whacking off
ole Mr. Johnson to get the magnet to make enuf juice to power
up the ****-weak thingie?) I went an bought the fake one with
the pair of CR2032 Lithium Coin cells inside of it at the local
Dollar Store, although they were actually $2.50 each. I then scavegened
the four lithium coin cells (they were Sony cells!!) and used two of
them
in my two older HF radios to replace the 8+ year old coin cells
inside of them - have to watch those older 80's Icom radios
as they DIE when the lithium cell gives out. so for $5 I got new
lithium cells for the shortwaves and the LED's are now in a holder
over the radio table act as a backlite from the 12VDC with a resistor
in series.
Who needs Radio Shack expensive parts? pooohiy!

Heck, for $1.00 at the local Dollar Store I got a
two pack (2x) of chinese incandescent C-cell
flashlights *with batteries* that I keep one in
the kitchen for the sr and the other hanging on
the wall in the garage next to the electrical panel.
(that's 50 cents a flashlite - yeah their cheap
but they do work and if they go bad all you do is
toss em in the recycle bin and get 2 more for a buck.

Why buy an LED flashlite when their incandescent
cousins are cheap as dirt at Dollar General and prolly
made on the assy line in the next building in Gansu Provence?

I own five battery powered flourescent camp lanterns and three hand held
LED lights, one of them has a little thin, either flourescent or LED light
thingy running up one side of the light. One of my lights is made by
UltraOptix www.ultraoptix.com it is intended for magnafying and
putting some light on small print.Last night,I took my eyeglasses off
and I pushed those two little buttons on the side of the light (doing
that makes the square plastic magnafying lense pop up and the light
turns on) and I held it in front of my right eye.My little doggy, she
went absolutely NUTS!
