Why bother getting a licence to use a GMRS radio?

Does the FCC think that people will actually pay $75 bucks for a
licence when u can use a gmrs without one and not get caught.

Nonetheless, you are required to get a license. Just because you don't
agree with the rules doesn't give you the right to disregard them.

BTW: The license fee is $85

Not to split hairs about this particular rule, but if the rule is
immoral, it does. Civil disobedience against a bad law is, despite its
illegality, nonetheless just.

There is nothing immoral about a licensing regulation. I know you
aren't necessarily referring to radio regulations.

On a not so serious note, though..... the outrageous price for a GMRS
license is a crying shame. It is realistically very difficult to
believe someone is going to buy a $20 pair of radios and pay $85 for a
license to use radios that don't even give the user the full benefits
of what GMRS offers.

Don't get me wrong... I 100% support and advocate everyone get a
license... still. I can slightly sympathize with those who resist....
blame Big Business for the confusion.

Then that's their mistake in interpretation, not mine. Civil
disobedience is a far cry from killing, which I never advocate. My
approach is more Ghandi-like.

For example, don't buy the overpriced radio license, and then passively
resist when the Feds say you have to. Let them be the villains.

Either that, or throw tea overboard when the tax is too high.

I agree, and to add to this, there are many people who use these radios
for very specific and time-limited purposes. I have a pair, and use
them only infrequently - specifically, when wandering around the
Yellowstone geysers basins to maintain communications with other
enthusiasts and the visitor center. That's only a few days a year.
$85 is just too much.

I am one who sees the radio spectrum as a 'gift' from the creator. I
have a very hard time seeing how any gov't agency can justify such a
high use tax on a God given right ...

I hope the creator sends you the $10,000 you'll need to pay the fine if
you get caught without a license.
