The Information Centre for Human Rights and Democracy is a human rights
organization based in Hong Kong that provides information about human rights
abuses in mainland China for news outlets. It is run single-handedly by
Frank Lu Siqing.

A municipal court document obtained by Lu claims his information center was
"registered in Hong Kong by a foreign hostile element Frank Lu Siqing."

Lu has been imprisoned in mainland China twice, first in 1981 for calling
for freedom of speech and again in 1989 for supporting the Tiananmen Square
pro-democracy movement.

Earlier this year, a Pentagon report estimated that China's military
spending is actually triple its declared US$30 billion, prompting U.S.
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to ask aloud, "Since no nation threatens
China, one must wonder: Why this growing investment? Why these continuing
large and expanding arms purchases?"

The answer to Mr. Rumsfeld's wry question can be found in China's clear
language and unmistakable actions over the past number of years. China has:

Twice declared America its main enemy

Cited America's implied threat to Chinese socialism as the rationale for
"intensively" reinforced armament

Stated that China should "lead the world"

Threatened nuclear war against the United States three times

Joined Russia in declaring a "New World Order"

Held its first-ever joint military exercises with Russia, and

Covertly ratcheted up its defense spending, without having a single natural
enemy in the world...

The US public doesn't even have the foresight to recognize the threat of the
enemy we're actually at war with, so it doesn't surprise me that people are
completely unaware of the threat we face with China. It's all linked,
however. If we send the message to the jihadists that we're afraid to fight,
they're not the only ones who will hear us. If China knows the American
public can't stomach another war, what will keep them from invading a
democratic Taiwan?
