A key-point that Wellbrook makes is the Five Metre "Noise Zone" that exists around a House and getting the Wire Antenna Element away {out} from this area. http://www.wellbrook.uk.com/longwire.html Note - The above "Correct Way" installation will ensure that the Wire Antenna Element is 'outside' the local Noise Zone which extends up to Five Metres (5m) around the House. Also the noise pickup is lower with the feeder close to the ground -or- buried under the ground a few inches. -Why- The Antenna and the Balun are within the Local Noise Zone RFI & EMF {Interference Area} that surrounds most buildings up to distance of Five Metres (5m) which is about 16 Feet. all i ask for is five metres beyond the noise - iane ~ RHF . . Regards, JS If the feeder is buried, (coax), then is the isolator required? Brian You may not need the isolator with the coax buried. There are to many variables to know for sure such as the soil conductivity. Best bet is to use one. You could also just clamp on some ferrite cores on the coax to see if it makes a difference. The diagram shows the antenna going back toward the house. This might be OK if that part of the house is electrically quiet but if not you just wasted your time with the work on the lead in. It would be better to attach the antenna away from the house so the entire antenna is away from noise sources. -- Telamon Ventura, California |
