i was surprised to find that the black plastic spiral cable wrap that i
was using as abrasion protection for a cb antenna shot my swr all to hell! its heavy vinyl plastic but i thought that it would be rf transparent! who can explain this? as far as the thin scotch tape goes i dont think there will be any effect. especially for receiving where the antenna is not tuned precisely on frequency. however the tape WILL rapidly fail due to uv from the sun. i presume that you are using clear packing tape for shipping boxes? its strong stuff but NO good against uv. how about foil tape used in alarm systems as the element and fastening system combined? it will stay on a smooth surface for years and years! |
