I do not have any HD experience.

I thought the HDR-2 radios would be out by now.

Be sure to report on how it works out for you.

It's like....why buy a MW/FM radio when a MW radio works just fine?
Because you want the FM.

DoN,

I B looken at them there HD {Holy DingleBerry}
Radios -buta- up here in these there hills we'en
ain't got no HD Radio Stations - be they A&M or
Fn&M. An the HD signals from them out-of-area
local-listening-zone Radio Stations can't get through
the noise generated by the other HD Radio Stations
from all around the ever expanding out-of-area
local-listening-zone.

seems to me the problem with hd radio is hd radio ~ RHF

The thing I'm worried about most is reception. I'm hoping that
Sangean, famous for its good reception, has produced a HD radio that is
very selective and sensitive.

I can't say this with any real degree of authority, but if this radio
follows the trend that most have, the analog AM and FM are really
afterthoughts, and Sangean concentrated on the "HD" part of the radio. This
in the same way that HiFi stereo systems concentrated on the FM tuner and
pretty much just put whatever would pick up your local stations on AM.

Thanks for the reply. Here is how Sangean advertised this radio: "It
features the superior reception Sangean is famous for along with an
acoustically tuned wooden cabinet creating improved bass response and
the most realistic...."

So, I do hope the reception is pretty good.

Acoustically tuned wooden cabinet?
Is there any such thing as acoustically tuned metal and plastic
cabinets? Nothing beats good old wooden cabinets.

Hi. I admit I am a radio buff and have been interested in this radio
for some time. I like that it's in stereo, and that it gets HD
stations and/or regular stations. The radio will seek only the HD
stations if I want. Sangean makes good radios and I am looking forward
to trying this one out. J&R priced matched for me $229 with a $50
rebate. Please post all of your opinions, positive and negative. Dont
be shy: if I don't like the unit, I will send it back.

Good for you. Enjoy your radio.
In all the posts knocking it, not one has said "I tried it and I
didn't like it"
So basically the negative posts are just bilge

Do tell what you think of it after you play for a bit.
