I wonder if it just might be Western Sahara (clandestine) looking for a new
frequency?

Thanks for the tip Ace.

You are correct once again. It was Western Sahara REPUBLICA ÁRABE
SAHARAUI DEMOCRÁTICA. I checked the interval signals.net web site &
the NA audio recording matches what I called " Marching Band type
music"

I have around 45 minutes & the S/Off ID recorded. I just need to
listen really closely now I know what to listen for.

At 00:00UTC I have a female in what sounds to be "Arabic". The music is
"middle eastern"
as well. I have a FSK (100B RTTY) just above the deisred signal
A male is now (00:02) reading a poem, maybe Quaran.

That is the one.The UTE station came on at around 23:55 & I switched to
LSB.

I thought it sounded like spanish spoken with an arabic accent

S/off was at 00:03 utc & I did make out an OM saying "Buenas Notches" &
then Marching Band type Music.

I need to spend much more time listening to unknown Lang's to get an
ear for what they sound like.

UK has a good language program. It might help to call there and see if
you
could arange samples of the more "common" languages.

Spain still has influence and maybe contol in some parts of north
africa.
It wouldn't be too surprising to find a station with a odd mix of
Spanish
and Arabic.

I will try to monitor the frequency Thursday and see if I can
understand anything.
Four semesters of Spanish at UK didn't really prepare me for the real
world.

Native speakers talk too darn fast. And the local/regional accents are
a killer.
I never could understand Cuban Spanish.

My Professsora was a Spainish major and had studied ancient, pre
Islamic
conquest, Spainish and Arabic. We had a Jewish girl and it was
fascinating
to see the Professor and her compare Arabic with Hebrew.

My next door girlfriend said she likes that Back to the Future movie on
tv where Michael Fox was showing off his right butt cheek.
