get WHAM-1180 (50-KW) in Rochester, which is about the same distance as
NYC from me. WHAM fades in near sunset and sometimes lasts to well after
sunrise, which means I'm receiving them via skywave (ionospheric)
propagation. I suspect they don't have an efficient grounding system for
their antenna or the geology of western NY doesn't support good ground
wave propagation on MW. Do you think you could receive WHAM in the
daytime where you were located?
Hi HFguy:
These mediumwave logs were collected by me, and someone else posted them to rec.radio.shortwave without my knowledge.

I was near Watertown, NY while scanning mediumwave. I didn't try daytime reception during the trip, and it was my first mediumwave DX session on the east coast. So I can't say what I'd be able to pick up during the day. I will make a note of this though, and try to do that next time I am there (I live in northern California).

It's interesting that you believe it's skywave delivering WHAM to you. Where are you located? If WHAM's transmitter is low to the ground, I could imagine that perhaps in the finger lakes region, those signals wouldn't make it east due to the valleys.
