Cant Git Rite February 28th 07 03:04 AM

My Kaito- KA-1103 Died

My 1103 quit working a couple days ago as I was changing out batteries. I
don't know if the radio accidently was turned on while changing the
batteries. I hit the reset button but nothing happened. Does anyone know
if this radio is repairable? If it is, please let me know where. I really
enjoyed listen to this radio.

TIA

Try taking the batterries OUT and then putting them IN after 10 min. or so.
Make sure you get the polarities correct, and hopefully the batteries are
OK. Sometimes a new one is a dud. K35454.

I seem to recall a suggestion that the reset is only effective if you leave
the unit unpowered for several hours until all the components have
discharged--have you tried that?

Has it got a reset thingy,or push buttons? Remove the batteries and push
all the buttons about three or four times, operate whatever else that
might be on the radio, knobs and such like, leave the batteries out for a
day or so.I don't know if that will help, but it might.Don't mix older
batteries with new ones.Use new batteries from the same package they may
come packaged in.

Did you try it with the ac adapter? If that works, then the batteries
are dry.

You can usually speed up the reset process by removing the batteries and
connecting a jumper (shorting) wire between the positive and negative
battery terminals of the receiver. You should turn the receiver on after
the jumper is connected. This will discharge the capacitors that keep
the memory alive. It works for most portables. If the radio has seperate
batteries for the controller chip (CPU), like the Sony-2010 has, you
should short those terminals too.
