I downloaded PC-ALE a few days ago and have been experimenting with it. Monitoring ALE is quite a unique activity and I think it requires a special temperament. I'm not sure if my temperament is the right one, but that's what I'm trying to figure out. Are there any readers out there who are old hands at ALE monitoring who care to comment on what you find most satisfying/interesting about it? Also, any advice for someone, like me, who's just beginning to get involved? Thanks, Steve Can't say I've received much ALE. I have about 15 frequencies saved where ALE has been reported but it doesn't seem very common. Maybe I'm not listening to the right frequencies at the right times. Just heard some at 15043 kHz, USB, s3 maybe, southern California. But it still seems sparse. -- rb- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Some logs from a little earlier this week: [14:10:55][FRQ 15043000][SND][ ][TWS][JNR ] [AL0] BER 30 SN 15 [13:43:54][FRQ 18003000][SND][ ][TWS][JNR ] [AL0] BER 23 SN 05 [13:42:05][FRQ 13907000][TO ][OPB ][TIS][X93 ] [AL0] BER 30 SN 19 [13:33:14][FRQ 5708000][SND][ ][TWS][ADW ] [AL0] BER 30 SN 16 [13:29:17][FRQ 6721000][SND][ ][TWS][RIC ] [AL0] BER 23 SN 13 [13:26:29][FRQ 8912000][SND][ ][TWS][PNR400 ] [AL0] BER 29 SN 00 [13:25:50][FRQ 13907000][TO ][OPB ][TIS][X93 ] [AL0] BER 29 SN 15 [13:21:20][FRQ 18594000][SND][ ][TWS][X93 ] [AL0] BER 27 SN 17 [13:01:24][FRQ 10242000][SND][ ][TWS][PNR400 ] [AL0] BER 30 SN 09 [12:58:13][FRQ 18594000][SND][ ][TWS][PNR400 ] [AL0] BER 30 SN 07 [12:57:52][FRQ 15867000][SND][ ][TWS][PNR400 ] [AL0] BER 25 SN 14 Cool. I've added the frequencies to my list. I've installed PC-ALE but it hasn't demodulated anything. Normally it says "SCANNING" and then when I hear a signal it typically says "SYNCING" or something like that but it has never printed a demodulated message. Do you know what the settings are to make it demodulate signals? -- rb |
