The U.S.Soldiers over there have a lot more than just what is on their
minds.Do you realize how much weight they carry around on their backs
nowdays? In World War Two,the average weight of their back packs was
around 124 pounds,I think,what they are carrying around on their backs
nowdays weighs much more than 124 pounds.Have you ever carried that much
weight (124 pounds) around on your back before? I have,on Marches at
Boot Camp. (of course YOU haven't,YOU wouldn't either,YOU wouldn't even
go there,after all,YOU are a Canadan and YOU live in Canada)

Some of the U.S.Soldiers at Normandy in World War Two fell down in the
water and drowned because of too much weight they were carrying on their
backs.Shootin Iron and Ammo and Entrenching Tool and Helmet and Shelter
Halve and the Boots and Clothes they were wearing is all they should
have needed to carry around with them.

If I had been there,I would have shucked off what I felt I didn't really
need before I jumped into the water and waded ashore.

Cato replys: I understand what you are saying, and I mostly agree
with you. But I also see and hear what some Canadians, (I said
"some"), think of our Canadian troops that go to Afghanistan. Some of
our fellow Canadian citizens toss insults at our troops. Make
derogotory comments. I think you know what I mean, I'm sure you've
seen it in the States with some of these things directed at you
American troops over the years.

Cato replys: Wait a sec cuhulin. You don't mean me or my sons I
hope. I'm Canadian and so's my family.I hope that you're not referring
to my family. My oldest son is going through all that training right
now, carrying all that heavy ****. Ya, full kit weighs a hell of a
lot. They get followed by vans to pick up the ones who can't run
through the exercises without throwing up and collapsing. The Lincoln
& Welland Regiment. Some of them getting taken to the hospital. Ya,
it's tough. The weak ones get weeded out. Isn't that how its always
been?
And they go through other exercises the are really sickening , and
made to be as real as possible before they get shipped out. It's a
form of conditioning, and it is necessary. But the reality over there
is even worse, as I am sure many of you remember from 'Nam or Iraq, or
wherever you have served. When they return form their tours of duty,
they must go through another series of reverse conditioning so help
them re-integrate into civilian society again with as little PTSD as
possible from what they go through over there.

Cato,you know the ones I mean.No one has to like the War on
Terrorism.But,at least Respect and Support the Troops.America's Troops
and America's Allies/Troops.
