The June Issue of Pop Com.

The cover is about Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton Ohio.
(Well, technically it's in Fairborn).

It says..

"WRIGHT PATTERSON AFB
CUTTING-EDGE AEROSPACE MONITORING".

I grew up in it's shadow, and have lived all my life as it's neighbor. I
have one of my scanners programmed with all of the frequencies I can find
for it. The most interesting ones are the security and maintenance calls.
I've heard all kinds of interesting com's.

When I still lived right in Dayton proper, in (East Dayton, which is right
very close), I used to see all the aircraft on approach and departure. When
they would have big storms down South, they would evac aircraft to WPAFB and
I would just sit on my deck and watch them fly in, it was great. I saw two
kinds Stealth aircraft at low altitudes, and that was great.

Back in the 80's, they flew in the 747 with the space shuttle hooked to the
top, I put the kids in the car and we drove there to see it. What a sight!
I'll never foregt it.

Over the years I've been online, I have had a lot of people ask me if I
knew if they really had the bodies of Aliens in the hanger 18 out there, and
a lot of wild stuff. It's pretty funny.

But, The Air Force Museum is the coolest place around.
You can go there, and no matter what your age, you feel like a kid.

At one time, WPAFB was the home of the SAC B-52 Flight Wing. they had
B-52's lined up as far as the eye could see.
I used to love driving by there.

Well, I don't know if this post is on topic or not, I took the chance
because it's on the cover of Pop Com.

But if you ever get the chance to go the Air Force Museum, go, it's worth
the trip.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Just looked all over the “Pop Com” site to see if I could find a PDF
subscription like MT at a price like MT, couldn’t find it.

I did the same a few days ago and found out they dont have electronic
subscriptions :\

I have subscribed to a year of MT for 15 Euro's. The paper magazine
would already be too costly. Then add to that the shipping times.

PDF subscriptions are the way to go publishers!

JeroenK,

The problem for the Publishers is the Re-Distribution
-via- eMail of the PDF Document.

Even a Protected WebSite [Page View] with an
"By-Subscrition" Authorized User List can lead
to a flood gate of Un-Paid {Non-Paying} Readers.

Somewhere there is a solution out-there for the
On-Line Magazine that is Profitable for the Paper
Magazine Publishers and usable for the Readers.

I totally agree with your recommendation to tour the museum at
Wright-Patterson. Many years ago, my brother and I drove four hours just
to visit the museum, and it totally exceeded our expectations. This
year, my sales job is expected to take me to the Cincinnati and Dayton
areas, and Wright-Pat is at the top of my list of places to go this
summer (watching the Reds play and visiting WLW follow closely behind).

Here's a couple of useful websites:

Thank's for the links.
I hope you enjoy your trip to the Cin/Dayton area.

I am on the other side of the world so "snail mail" air mail takes 21 days
to get to me then "customs" tries to charge me tax!!!

I'll just stay with "MT" thank you very much.

I can certainly understand that.
MT is a fine magazine.
For me, it's only a matter of going to Barnes & Noble and buying the MT &
the new Pop com. once a month. And, if my health doesn't permit me to go,
my daughter stops in and grabs them for me. Both mag's to me are essential
to my hobby.

No Pop magazine in Tennessee? I am figuring on going to the Wal Mart
food store (after first stopping off at the Goodwill store, because it's
right on the way) tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon. There is a Waldensbooks
book store in the Metrocenter Mall, just across Highway 80 from doggy's
couch. www.metromalljackson.com

Last time I was in that book store, they had at least two different
shortwave related magazines on the magazine shelves.I need to see if the
book store can order a couple of books for me.I will try to remember to
stop off at the book store and check it out.
