4 hours coordinated universal time is 9:00 PM mountain standard time. I
really don't know how to read the frequency, i just know it's on the 31 meter band at that time. When i look at the dial, it shows between 14.9 and 15.0. Thanks. Jacob |

There's usually nothing there below WWV. How poor is the image rejection of your receiver? You may be picking up some sort of digital utility or CODAR wave radar as an image from 2*IF above the V. of Russia signal, or you may be tuned to the image of VOR. I have that problem on my $40 Grundig FR-200 on signals in the 6 MHz band. Sometimes, the image at the frequency .9 MHz lower gets a cleaner copy than the direct frequency. Fun with cheap receivers... Try tuning .9 MHz higher and see if either you 1) get a better copy on V. of Russia, or 2) a louder version of the interference. Reception is usually quite decent although it tends to weaken after 8.30 PM PDT. I have not heard the chirping although there is a constant chirping from 12075 to about 12200. Russia used to have a transmission at around 12000 but I haven't heard it for a few years. An alternate freq. is 9435 but there is a noise band in my condo wiping out that one. I really doubt that anyone is trying to jam VOR. Bob |
