Constant noise around 2 kHz
"?ish" wrote in message oups.com... Hello all, Why does SW radio comes up with noise the moment I dial beyond AM. I have tried tuning with several radios (including Sony 2010) and for some reason noise level seems to increase around that band. I tried with both AC adapter and plain old battery. Any ideas? TIA Most portables switch from a ferrite antenna for MW-LW reception to a whip antenna for SW. The whip antenna is more sensitive to electrical noise. It's also possible you have a local noisemaker which starts up around 2 Mhz. In my case, I have several radios which work with wire antennas only and I don't have any such sharp peaks in the noise.
