He said many times that Radio was his first love. For being the near
doofus he could be on TV, sometimes, I was quite surprised to discover
how good he really was on radio when his syndicated show hit WLS at
night. He was sharp, he was funny, he was quick. And yet, he still
managed to retain the essential qualities that made him so popular on TV.

He was also not unwilling to ask a tough question, or two, when the
need arose.

Night time radio has been a placeholder for decades, in most markets.
John McCormick on KMOX was the last one I recall who really 'got' night
time radio, and played it like a virtuoso musician. When McCormick
retired, Snyder was a very nice gift.

Still as 'dig me' as he ever was, but it worked better on radio than TV.

Yep, I was always hoping he'd come back.

He'll always be missed.
