(The US 82 Greenville Bridge across the Mississippi River) I listen to the JT and Dave radio talk show, Monday through Friday.Over a month ago and more recently, they said some Mexicans are doing the welding on that new bridge.More than one person has phoned into JT and Dave's radio talk show before about that.Would you trust driving across a bridge that has been welded by bush's illegal aliens? I wouldn't! cuhulin |

For many years we have all been warned about faulty bridges and other
kinds of structures.I am glad I don't have to drive across any bridges anymore. And under or over highway overpasses. When I go to the food store, I stick to the slow poke old back roads.Across Highway 80 and get on Jackson Highway and take a left on Morson Road to the Goodwill store. Then from the Goodwill store, on JR Lynch Road and then take a right on Robinson Road Extension to Robinson Road to Greenway Drive to the Wal Mart store food department.I don't have to get on any of them bridges and overpasses any where around here. cuhulin, the back roads |

I believe that bridge collasped because of structual failure. It didn't
have to happen though. They knew about the cracks in that steel. The bridge should have been closed down untill that problem had been repaired. cuhulin |

George and his brother were running coke to Minneapolis and they thought they were being followed, buried the stuff near one of the supports of the bridge, and boom, 40 years later the results of their digging brought the bridge down. |

Seeing as you didn't share the article with us, I think the point of your newspaper was that he was THE governor, not that he was a Republican governor. Why make it a political thing? Minnesota wasted millions building a worthless light rail system instead of fixing roads. Didn't they also spend millions restoring the theatre downtown Minneapolis...and building a replica sailing ship for the river front? To be perfectly fair, there really isn't a budget in most states for fixing things. Roads are built to be rebuilt, but not restored. The very structure of the Interstates requires them to be pulled up once patching ceases to be effective, instead of merely resurfacing, or restoring the top two layers, as the Germans do. If we built roads with the intention of maintaining, rather than replacing them, in the first place, there would be a whole lot of money that could be wasted elsewhere. But who listens to me? Similarly, bridges, railways, electrical systems...they're all built to be replaced as needed, rather than restored. With a little longer vision, we'd have a much less obsolete infrastructure in this country, and a lot more money for the frills that seem to delight politicians, so. But this is what we get for electing career politicians who learn to focus only on the next 2/4 year election rather than the term/terms before them. Career politicians who learn that appearance of activity is more important than results. We get the government we deserve. If we stopped putting up with it, things would change. |
