Ford and the HD Radio farce
The HD Cartel would have you believe iBiquity's silly deal with Ford
were something of import. As we know, it's not. Funny, none of the "HD" Cheerleaders are talking about another media-related technology being rolled out, also coincidentally by Ford: http://gormanmediablog.blogspot.com/...blog-post.html Here, you'll find two videos. Decide which you'd rather have in your vehicle. 36,000+ worldwide channels or the "Eric and Kathy More Music Morning Show"? You make the call. Those of you who have never had the "HD" Radio experience while driving can learn everything you need to know here. No need to spend $300 at the dealership. In case anyone from the HD Pep Squad missed it, the gentleman from Ford said Sync would be available THIS year-- in the Fall. I'm no iBiquity engineer, but according to my calculations that would be around now. I wonder if Mr. Jablonski (or anyone else of import from Ford) has taken the time to do a video demonstration of the costly "HD" dealership-only option. Ford laughs all the way to the, well, nobody in Detroit is laughing right now-- but the "HD" deal actually DOES make sense for the motor company. Ford has to do absolutely NOTHING. Literally. No inventory, no promotional costs, no manpower-- NOTHING. In return the company gets millions in free radio advertising thanks to the HD Cartel, which'll prostitute itself out in any kind of "trade" deal in hopes of getting more than ten people to understand what the hell "stations between the stations" means. With any luck, the HD spots WILL get someone out to his local Ford/ Lincoln/Mercury dealer. That's where he'll learn about Microsoft's Sync... http://radioracket.yuku.com/topic/10...--Past--M.html or http://tinyurl.com/2c9qn9 |
