He probably is refering to the balun which came with the AN-LP1.
It plugs into the feedpoint of the loop. The cable is then plugged into the
balun.
It is of minor usefulness and is not neccessary for the operation of the
AN-LP1.

IIRC - The little 'extra' in-line Filter Module is actually an
AM/MW and FM Broadcast Band Filter that can be used
-IF- you are experiencing AM/MW and/or FM Band Radio
Interference. - - - Passes 2 MHz to 24 Mhz

Note - For most Shortwave Listener's (SWLs) who do not
live right next to an AM/MW and/or FM Radio Station's
Transmitter : It's use is not required.
