Can someone suggest an inexpensive weather channel radio that will work
in a metal mobile home? It doesn't need an alert function - just to
listen to in bad weather.

Any of the radio shack weather radios should work IF you can find a
way to get the signal past the metal shielding of your home. Try
positioning the radio near a window.
