BBCWS 75th anniversary

Of course, 75 years ago it was the Empire Service.

You might wish to look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice for
special programing.

One thing the Beeb ought to concentrate on - recently, there have been
scandals involving fake call ins and contests. The World Service won
the Beeb much of its good reputation during WWII by honestly reporting
it when the Brits were losing the war. Later, when the tide began to
turn, people in Europe and elsewhere believed the Beeb because it had
been honest in the bad times.

This hard won reputation should be guarded like the Crown Jewels.

In a far less momentous anniversary, BBC7, a digital radio service (it
streams and has audio on demand) is celebrating its fifth anniversary
with special programing. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7)

BBC7 carries mostly old BBC Home Service/Radio 4 shows - largely
comedy and drama of various genres.
