Survey results
 
Here are some survey results. I don't know if there's anything
surprising here or not. I personally was surprised at the large
percentage of readers who are primarily broadcast listeners. I was
also a little surprised that fewer people would want to be stranded on
an island with Michael Jackson than with David Eduardo (though I did
figure this one would be close).

I didn't provide results for the question "What kind of antenna do you
typically use?" because the list of answers is too long and varied.


How long have you been listening to shortwave radio?

Less than one year 2.6%

One to five years 2.6%



Are you a ham radio operator?

Yes 20.8%

If you are a ham radio operator, how long have you been licensed?

I am not a ham 80.5%

More than ten years 10.4%

Five to ten years 3.9%

How much of your SWLing time is devoted to broadcast listening?

I primarily listen to broadcasts 66.2%

I occasionally listen to broadcasts 14.3%

I listen almost exclusively to broadcasts 10.4%

Broadcast listening takes up a third or more of my time 9.1%



If you're a SWLer and not a ham radio operator, why have you never
decided to get a ham license?

I don't know...perhaps I will get a ham license one day 49.4%

I am a ham 24.7%

Ham radio just doesn't interest me 16.9%

I do intend to get my ham license 7.8%

Too lazy 1.3%

I love them 23.4%

Black box receivers are okay, though I prefer a standalone receiver
14.3%

I'm indifferent on the "computer controlled" vs standalone issue
10.4%



Who would you least want to be stranded on a desert island with?

Michael Jackson 46.8%

David Eduardo 32.5%

The M15 persecution guy 11.7%
