Sangean ATS-808A problems

Hi,

I have been given a Sangean ATS-808A that has a few problems and would
like your help please.

No Audio from speaker or headphone jack.
All wires appear to be connected correctly.
Speaker is ok. Volume control is ok.

No manual tuning when turning rotary tuning knob.
Direct entry and up/down funtion ok.

Signal strength shows full scale indication on all or any frequency.

Should I bother trying to fix these problems or are they beyond help?

Thanks,
Mark.

Look for a reset button...I'm sure there is one somewhere.
Alternatively remove all batteries from the radio and let it sit for a
day.

Dear Mark,

I too had a Sangean ATS-808AP. It lasted about three years.
Unfortunately, this model seems to have somewhat variable quality
control and longevity. I know a person who has owned one since 1998
and it still functions perfectly, but, when they do "go," unless you
yourself can fix the problem(s) inexpensively, it is probably best to
relegate the radio to the trash. You can easily buy a new, far better
performing, radio for less than $80.00. I think a repair, if it is
possible at all, will cost as much or even more than that.

Best,

Joe

C.Crane Company can fix your radio, I guess. www.ccrane.com
But like Joe said, buy another radio.

MARK - Don't waste the Money on repairing the Sangean ATS-808A Radio.

The Sangean PT-80 ProTravel Radio is the same size as the
Sangean ATS-808A Radio.

http://www.universal-radio.com/catal.../1080spec.html

Etón E10 Radio is also about that size.

Grundig G4000A is too.

Kaito KA1107 Radio

IMHO "The Best Buy" - I would recommend the
Sony ICF-SW7600GR Radio which has the
AM-SYNC feature and is a very good Radio
in that size range.

Thanks to all who have replied.
It looks like the 808 will be out in the trash.
Now it's time to work on the birthday wish list!

Regards.
