The Icom IC-7700 arrived last week at the main dealer/distributor in
South Africa but has been embargoed for delivery to customers by Icom
Japan. Apparently due to some fault found in initial deliveries in the
U.S.A.

I will not be buying it anymore though as their pre-arrival estimated
price of $4285 has now ballooned to US$8,000 (including 14% VAT).
That's a lot more than I am prepared to pay for that radio.

So I am looking at an Elecraft K3 or Perseus SDR instead.

John,
I do not see your old valve Eddystone listed among your radios at the
end. Did you retire it?

Sadly all the lovely mint condition boatanchors had to go under
instructions from the ball and chain.

The magnificent Eddystone 940 that is just superb on MW, with it's
magnificently engineered tuning wheel, went to my DX pal Gary Deacon
in Cape Town. He also got a very nice Hallicrafter's SX-100 from me.

The lovely imbuia solid wood GE radogram from the 50's went to a local
ham here in Montagu.

They all went for free as there is no markt for them in South Africa,
although they fetch high prices on eBay in the U.S. and UK.
