They are playing old Rock an Roll
Getting a little cross feed "dxAce" wrote in message ... I was listening to RNZI on 7145 and at 1058 they indicated that they were switching to 9655. I went to 9655 and they never came up so I went back to 7145 and still there at 1102. Must not have their automation set correctly as this conflicts with their published sked. http://www.rnzi.com/pages/listen.php dxAce Michigan USA |

I wonder why they don't just change their frequencies close to the hour, so that it's easier for listeners to remember where they will be. -- http://shortwwwave.com/ |

I am in Hong Kong and I can just pick up RNZI on my Sony ICF-SW7600GR
with the built-in telescopic antenna. The signal is a bit faint. Not surprising, considering that their target area is the Pacific islands, not Asia. It is however surprising that you can hear them in the middle of USA. That's way off target. I guess you're not using my kind of portable equipment. Am I right? |

I noted that they have been absent on some frequencies lately. They were missing on 13,840 the other day until something like 03:00 or 04:00 hours UTC. I don't know about you but the B08 frequency changes have been very favorable for me regarding RNZ and Australia. RNZ and Australia have been pretty poor for me over this last winter. -- Telamon Ventura, California |

I guess you're not using my kind of portable equipment. Am I right? The RNZI signal is often strong enough to hear in the eastern USA on a good portable receiver with just the whip antenna. It's just a matter of listening at the right time. RNZI used to be a real DX catch many years ago when they were using only 7.5-kw of power. Then they went to 100-Kw and it became easy to hear them. I ran across them on 7145 just by coincidence the other night. I don't recall RNZI ever using the 41-m band before. |
