Build you one Mike. You can't go wrong. Loops IMO are freeking killer-
I only have loops for the BCB. For some some reason I just can't
picture (even though I know it works) using a loop for shortwave. I
have three of them and use two of them all the time- without them
there is NO WAY I could have logged and received the verification
reports I have. What type of capacitor are you looking for? I have one
I am not using.....it's a good one- I forget the specs but I could
find out.

I have been flirting with purchasing a Wellebrook SW loop for a year
or two now... does anyone on list have one? *Specifically paired with
a Satellit 800 or E1?

I've used the ALA100 for I guess 5 years. I won't go back to anything
else. The ALA100 is a DIY box from Wellbrook. They supply the amp, you
supply the loop itself. You need about a 4ftx4ft loop to get the
antenna really cooking. I use copper pipe at home and wire in the
field.

This is a loop I built for use in the field. It is just an umbrella
stand base, PVC, fiberglass tent poles, wire, and of course the
ALA100.

I have a larger version that uses white fiberglass rods from Tap
Plastics instead of the tent pole rods. I also have a small 2ft by 2ft
loop I use for direction finding.

The key to the Wellbrook loop is "aperture." It needs to occupy a lot
of space if you want the signal to noise level to be high.

I think the ALA100 is the least expensive product they make, or
perhaps this is the case for export use since it is very small. Still,
with the weak dollar, it isn't cheap nowadays.
