While listening to CRI on 9650 at 1300 for some Olympic coverage I was reminded
that today, August 9, marks the 63rd anniversary of the atomic bombing of
Nagasaki which finally brought WWII to a close. (Hiroshima was bombed on Aug. 6,
1945.)

My father was in the Air Force from 1942 to 1970. When I was a litte kid
we lived in
Ft. Worth, Texas, stationed at Carswell AFB. My dad's friend and fellow
officer
Kermit Beahan and his wife would visit our house from time to time.
Major Beahan
would play catch with me in the front yard, and I remember Mrs. Beahan
helping my mom
cook supper and sitting with me on the sofa.

Kermit Beahan was the bombardier on Bock's Car, the plane that dropped
the bomb
on Nagasaki.

On Aug 6, Radio Havana was all too eager to make sure that the world knew
about the bombing of Hiroshima. That was their lead story. They also went
on to point out every other "wrongdoing" that the United States has done in
the past. Of course, Cuba is a communist country on the brink of self
destruction, so one would only imagine the self denial they are in.

If that is true, why is an embargo needed? A forty eight year long
embargo? Surely they don't need all that help in order to collapse?
And where do all those Washington types get their Havana Cigars? Are
some embargoes more equal than others?

You can go there via Mexico, Canada or The Caribbean Island.

we could make it part of NAFTA, Ship all our prisoners there and call
them temporary guest workers.

If that is true, why is a Canada Border needed?
A 5000 km long Border ?
Surely they don't need all that that Border in order to
keep the Americans Out?
And where do all those Ottawa types get their US Cigarettes?
Are some Canadians 'visitors' more equal than others?

this is your brain on 'mike'

A US/Canadian Border, because America and Canada are two seperate
Countries.I think there are cigarette factories in Canada that
manufacture American brand name cigarettes.

About a year ago, I read somewhere (I probally read about it at
www.rense.com) that World War Two didn't Officially end untill
1951.Other than that, I do not know.
I only know what I read in the papers ~ Will Rogers.

Will Rogers was a cantankerous old coot.

- And, during 1944, Cuba wasn't looking at two Million casualties if
it invaded japan.
Just finished reading James Michners " tales of The South Pacific"

http://www.amazon.com/Tales-South-Pa.../dp/0449206521

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_the_South_Pacific

Early on, they describe Japanese broadcasts joyously describing the
planned invasion and subsequent enslavement of New Zealand and how
this will benefit Imperial japan.

In the later chapters, an Invasion is described, in minute by minute
detail.
with the horrific casualties the Americans suffered.

Its quite a book. Well worth reading.

Thinking of The Olympics in China, and rabbi Yakov Spivacs broadcast

about it on 7.415, WBCQ
