CODAR.

Not sure which one. The ones in NC and NJ use 4525-4550 kHz (NC sweeps up
in freq and NJ down in freq).

I have hear ones at 4 & 5 MHz in the following approximate frequency ranges:
4525-4550 (NC and NJ per above)
4735-4765
4775-4800
4787.5-4812.5
4705-4835
4877.5-4902.5
4912.5-4937.5 (I think this is W coast of FL but cannot locate my notes at
present.)
4965-4995
5222.5-5247.5

I should probably add that in each case above, there is more that one site
transmitting in each state (more that one site sweeps up in NC and more than
one site sweeps down in NJ). The same is true for the Florida system.
This is common for CODAR. Thus a "sweeper" is usually more than one site.

It seems to be that damn CODAR as others have suggested. I can hear it here
weakly even in the middle of the afternoon.

It sure does make a mess out of what is left of the 60 meter tropical band.

Dale,

Check out the waterfall display screenshot of multiple CODAR signals on my
blog entry he

http://perseus-sdr.blogspot.com/2008...f-science.html

It's sad to see that most of the tropical band signals heard from the West
Coast USA are CODAR utes much of the time!
