HD Radio Simulated Test Drive
Take the simulated HD radio test drive. Talk about dirty rotten lies. Listen to their simulated comparisons of Am/Fm and their supposed HD sound. To be honest my 7 year old $12.00 mono clock radio sounds better than their simulated sound of Am/Fm. And their simulated HD sound really sucks. listen for below.. http://www.hdradio.com/how_does_hd_d...adio_sound.php What a big joke. Something is wrong when they have to degrade the sound of Am/Fm on purpose to make their system sound better. My GM factory radio sounds just a good. Do they really think we’re that stupid? I guess so! |

I guess so! Did you read the NOTE at the bottom of the page? It tells you it's not a true replica. Obviously, the sound will only be as good as your internet connection and system, including speakers, will allow. The idea of this comparison is to push the idea that the HD Radio will sound much better than analog radio, as the similation clearly indicates. I think you missed the whole point. |

Neither the HD audio sample nor the analog sample sounded very good. On the HD sample, the spoken "s" sizzled and some of the syllables audibly popped. These errors come up from time to time on analog radio, and now I'm wondering if they'll be the norm on HD radio. The analog sample was a misrepresentation, as AMer's typically broadcast normal bass. I won't claim my computer and speakers are up to audiophile standards, but it typically sounds better than what I heard. And any good wideband AM radio will sound better than either of those samples, provided there's anybody who cares to broadcast wideband AM anymore. Frank Dresser |

I think you might have missed the point. Average people who buy ipods or
radio's won't know or care about compression. Clearly they meant to make Am/Fm sound poorly compared HD. Duh.. HD is sold has nearly CD sound, people will hear HD as in high def & CD sound. They'll use their ears to judge if HD is worth $100.00 So far there's no interest. Anyway it's just a big joke.. |
