This morning was full of Chinese music jammers all over the bands.
Here's what I heard in just the period from 1200 - 1230 UTC:

9680 blocking R. Taiwan
9780 blocking KNLS?
7280 blocking Sound of Hope
9845 blocking VOA
9930 blocking KWHR or SoH?
11665 blocking R. Taiwan (which was also audible)
11775 blocking AIR's Tibetan service
11785 blocking VOA-Thailand (which was also coming through)
11825 blocking VOA
12040 blocking VOA

I believe the Firedrake was // on all frequencies. The strongest
jamming seemed to be versus the VOA.

My receiver was an Eton E5 using just the whip.

Well, the main Olympics are over, and the Paraplegic Olympics are nearly
over. Maybe it's because they no longer feel that they need to create a
good impression.

Ian,

My monitoring during the Olympics did not lead me to believe that the
Chinese canceled any jamming during the event. The only thing I
noticed was that they seemed to try at least one other musical piece
for jamming purposes during the competitions. They now seem to have
returned to the standard Firedrake Opera - mainly drums, cymbals, and
flutes.

from Tinian, no RFA audio making it. SIO-242. Receiver: Eton E5 w/
whip, KY, US.

Normal being most days or nights.
That chinese opera they play is the most annoying.

You have more than one radio so tune one in and search on another and
you will find out at least several frequencies in sync with each other.

Yes, when I lived out West the Chinese and Soviet regionals were
broadcasters I spent a lot of time DXing using the exact techniques
you describe, during all times of the day. Now that I'm in Kentucky,
I'm pretty much limited to a brief period around 1200 UTC and between
2100 - 0000 UTC for Far Eastern signals, like the Music Jammers.
Forgive me for reporting what must be
something pretty mundane for someone living on the West Coast.
