Allied A-2515 SW Radio Info Request

I would like to hear opinions about this radio.

How did it perform?

How did it compare to other radios at the time?

Does anyone know what accessories if any were available for it?

Any images of it being advertised by Allied?

Thanks

TMT

FWIW I had the 2512 for about 6-8 years, it was an OK performer. Do
you happen to have a link for the one you have? Does it have the screw
terminals on the back? Can you hook coax to it?

I have the A2515 version...with the screw terminals.

Considering the rariety of the radio, it would seem to be a good
collectors item.

Does anyone else have info on the item?

I also note that it has a SQUARE 12v female socket on the back for
portable use...where does one find the male plug for this socket?

Thanks

A friend of mine uses an A2515 all the time and loves it. Apparently it was
actually build by Trio-Kenwood. Even though it has Kenwood blood in its
veins, that doesn't take away from its other respectable qualities.

After you've beat the bushes and still cannot find the square plug may I
suggest just paralleling a second jack to the square one somewhere in an
inconspicuous spot on the back and using it instead for your power? The
purists will hate my idea but it becomes somewhat ridiculous after searching
for a long time trying to come up with oddball components.

You should be able to find the manual on the BAMA manual website. If not,
email me. I think I have a copy and would photocopy it. I also think I have
an Allied catalogue with its description which I'd be happy to scan if
you'll email me.

Good luck.
