best Radio Shack portable transistor radio?
A while back I was told that the Realistic 12-255 or 12-256 were the
best radios they made for AM BCB listening. But I must have gotten the model number mixed up or copied wrong. The one I saw was about the size of text book. Anyone have any hints or tips on what it might be? I think if I saw a pic I might recognize it Thanks Hank |

The model: 12-655 TRF AM radio I have one and they are/were good for DXing. They made a similar one including the FM band but it wasn't anywhere near the same for pulling in stations. This ad shows a claim of 100-mile reception in daylight http://chowdanet.com/markc/WEB2005A/...tic_10-trf.gif I remember getting 400-mile daylight reception. OK, I was on a ship and it was over salt water, but it was 400+ miles at midday. |
