Univision revenues fall - LOL, Eduardo, more to come!

"Univision revenues fall."

"Hispanic media's not immune from the downturn, as Univision Radio
posted a 14% drop in fourth quarter revenues. That brought the
division to a 4% decline for 2008. CEO Joe Uva says the company
continues to have "ample liquidity," thanks in part to cutting 6% of
its payroll in February."

LOL, Eduardo! More to come!

An owner of a small group of radio stations said to me and the entire
staff the following:

"Your mantra is, FASTER CHEAPER MORE!"

CHEAPER = National repeater radio, less really is more money in the
bank.

MORE = run 10 spots back to back

FASTER = move faster sell more spots.

The glory days of radio are over for a while. Revenues have flat lined
or declined. If you can't grow sales, and radio can't, then you find
ways to eliminate and reduce the cost of operations.

You say radio can't innovate, you just watch the innovation reducing
10 jobs to one...

The best part is, with job losses and less people, comes profits and
executive bonuses.

happy days are here again for someone...

As for listeners? who cares!
235, million people apparently like average and enjoy repeater radio.
I mean otherwise they'd turn their radios off and listen to Ipods.
right? Until such time a viable alternative comes around, programming
quality will remain poor to average.

HD extends the current radio brands, offering listeners not much other
than the same average programming. This could explain why HD receiver
sales are dead on arrival..

Considering the stock market is off around 40% from the pre-recession days,
a 4% decline is amazingly small, and testimony to the continued growth and
advertiser interest in the Hispanic market.
